Crit Session Spring 2026

1604 Art Space, in pursuit of its goal to offer formative resources to artists, is excited to continue its Crit Session Series.

This session is hosted by artists Sulafa Mohammed and Elham Shafaei. Sulafa Mohammed is an Emirati artist whose practice explores the intersection of crochet, numbers, and personal history through textile techniques, drawing on strategies of archiving and documentation to transform overlooked details from daily life into meaningful artworks.

Elham Shafaei is an Iranian artist and curator based in the UAE, whose interdisciplinary practice spans painting, papermaking, photography, installation, textile, sound, and video, often engaging with themes of existential condition, memory, displacement, and diaspora.

Drawing on their artistic and professional experiences, this session will focus on participants’ artworks and practices—offering a space to share work, receive constructive feedback, and connect with peers while fostering a sense of community.

Whether you're refining a project or exploring new ideas, this is your chance to gain fresh perspective and grow your practice.
