Drawing on Ahmed Hassan’s background in geoscience, Built From Pressure explores the psyche as a landscape of accumulated histories.

Just as geological pressure compacts layers, produces fractures and preserves traces beneath the surface, emotional, social and technological pressures shape the structures through which a person learns to survive. Faces become chambers, bodies become monuments, eyes become witnesses and sensors, and crowns become both symbols of power and instruments of burden.

Across the body of works, personal experiences of grief, anxiety, reinvention and the desire to be recognised open into shared questions: Which roles became permanent? Which losses became structural? Which systems do we continue to obey, and when does aspiration begin to demand more than it gives?
